Barbe-Quest: Montgomery Inn

Along with Skyline and Graeters, Cincinnatians are crazy about this barbecue. I would say that Montgomery inn is very high quality and consistent. The sauce is good and tangy. The Saratoga chips are crispy, but they can get old pretty fast. I think that if you wanted barbecue, it would be a solid investment. But I don't think it is the best.

[David's Note: There isn't much to say about Montgomery Inn's barbecue other than it is exactly what you would expect from good ribs. Nothing really stands out about it either, which makes some people's fanatical devotion seem strange.]

  1. It's not really barbecue. Barbecue is smoked meat, Montgomery Inn isn't smoked, but boiled and grilled. That's what I explain to people from outside Cincinnati-- sort of like I explain that Skyline isn't chili, but meat sauce.

  2. I agree....it's ( MI and skyline) really not what's expected. I don't think I could have described it better. thanks Julie!
